The dates for the Tailteann Cup have been announced.
It’s the inaugural edition of the second-tier Gaelic football competition for senior county teams and will be contested by up to sixteen teams from Divisions 3 and 4 after completion of the 2022 National Football League plus New York.
If a Division 3 or 4 team reaches their provincial final, they continue in the 2022 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and do not participate in the Tailteann Cup.
Carlow is involved in the competition after exiting the Leinster championship at the hands of Louth.
The preliminary rounds take place if 17 teams qualify on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of May.
Round one is on the 28th and 29th of May.
The quarter-finals then are on the 4th and 5th of June, the semis are on Sunday the 19th of June and the final is on Saturday the 9th of July.
Fermanagh, London and New York are some of the teams who are going to be in the competition.
