With the Talbot Hotel Junior football championship in full swing results in games are very close.

In the four games played on Tuesday evening in round 2 of the ‘A’ championship the narrowest of margins was a single point and the widest was three points.
Group 1
St. Patricks 1-10 Old Leighlin 0-11
Leighlinbridge 2-7 Tinryland 1-9

Group 2
Fenagh 1-13 Ballon 2-8
Palatine 4-7 Rathvilly 1-10

St. Patricks are top of the table in group 1 closely followed by Old Leighlin and Leighlinbridge.

In Group 2 Fenagh lead the table with Ballon and Palatine in hot pursuit and it will take the third round to finalize placing’s and depending on results a lot can change.

Elsewhere a goal from Eire Og’s Paul Behan twelve minutes from the end was enough to see them over the line against Naomh Eoin in the Junior B Football Championship.

Naomh Eoin led by 1-2 to 0-2 at half time their goal coming from Keith Slye. Final Score Eire Og 1-7 Naomh Eoin 1-4.

Tinryland had three points to spare over Kildavin-Clonegal at McGrath Park
Tinryland 2-5 Kildavin-Clonegal 0-8.

In Group 2 Asca gave a clear indication that they want to start climbing the ladder to a higher division with a 6-29 to 2-6 scoreline against Palatine. This was Asca’s second win in the competition and in fairness to Palatine it was their adult third Football team.

O’Hanrahans also look strong as they defeated St. Andrews by 4-9 to 0-9.

Some of the Golden Oldies were in action Philip Nolan was at midfield while elsewhere Ebby Nolan, Anthony Core and Paul Core in the full forward line accounted for 4-8 of the 4-9.
