A team of 16 riders will represent Ireland at the Road World Championships in Flanders, Belgium from 19-26 September.
Included in the squad will be Carlow’s own Conal Skully who will compete with the Junior mens team on the Friday the 24th and in the junior time trial event earlier on the Tuesday which is the 21st.
His own club, Carlow Road Cycling Club, recognized Skully’s fantastic performance as a 1st year junior last week at the Europeans Con as being a leading factor in his selection to represent his country.
Along with words of encouragement online the club outlined their delight for the young man on their official facebook page, saying
“We are running out of words & descriptions for this young man. We are so delighted for you and your family wear those Irish colours with pride young man because you deserve it.”
We wish Conal all the best next week and in the future and will hopefully grab him for an interview upon his return.
