Carlow 2-18
Down 0-08
The Carlow minor hurlers moved a step closer towards the Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Hurling Championship quarter-finals on Saturday afternoon following a routine win against Down in Abbotstown.
Alan Roche’s side have been in good form since their opening round defeat to Antrim and they continued a strong run of results as they proved far too strong for Down.
Two first half goals along with a some well-taken scores gave the Barrowsiders a healthy 2-12 to 0-03 lead at half-time.
The deserved fifteen-point lead at the interval took the sting out of the game as Carlow edged the second half on a scoreline of 0-06 to 0-05 to wrap up a comfortable win.
That result means Carlow will advance to the knockout stages of the competition with a victory at home to Westmeath next weekend.
