The time has come and Carlow Senior Footballers are all set for the big clash with All Ireland Champions Dublin at O’Moore Park in Portlaoise on Saturday at 7pm.

It’s been a very exciting few weeks in Carlow and the victory over Wexford really has given everyone a pep in their step.

Big numbers are expected to attend the game in O’Moore Park tomorrow and supporters are advised to get there early.

Captain Darragh Foley is embracing the Media Coverage for tomorrow’s game.

Speaking to KCLR, Daragh says they are relishing the task of playing the best in the business.

“It’s a huge opportunity for us. It’s an opportunity that we are really looking forward to and a sense of excitement.

“All this media stuff is great and in fairness to Turlough he has managed it very well in this game. We have nothing to lose and we have it all to gain. It’s an opportunity for our lads to go out there and just get exposure for them.

“The likes of Broderick, Brendan Murphy as a group collectively as well. It’s not just the two lads, we have superb footballers all over the field and it’s just great to be leading into this game instead of leading into a qualifier game,”

It’s also interesting to hear Darragh speak about Sean Murphy who has been a revelation for Carlow this year.

Foley says Sean is a unique character in more ways than one and it’s worth taking a listen to the interview at the bottom of the page to hear exactly why!

Manager Turlough O’Brien says they are going to be playing Championship football for a long time this Summer regardless.

Speaking to KCLR, Turlough says they will give a good account of themselves.

WI think they have fantastic potential here to do very well this year. Regardless of how this game goes, I think we are going to be playing football for a long time this Summer. I am just going to tell you this now, Carlow are going to give a good account of themselves, I can guarantee you that.

“This Carlow Team is going to take the field and they are going to give it everything. I don’t know where that is going to take us but I guarantee you, the people of Carlow will be proud of this team come 9pm next Saturday.

“I am not making any predictions, wins or losses or margins or anything like that, I am telling you we are in a good place and we are going to give a really good account of ourselves,”

I personally agree with what Turlough is saying and I think Carlow will stay relatively competitive up until the 50 minute mark and after that it will be difficult to contain the Dubs who have serious ammunition to come in off the line.

The Handicap +21 earlier in the week at Evens was tasty looking and that has now gone to +19 so a few people have taken up that offer.
