Carlow Senior Football manager Turlough O’Brien says they were the authors of the downfall with all the missed chances in their defeat to Offaly.
Turlough says despite their second consecutive defeat, they have the mental toughness within the squad to bounce back.
Speaking to KCLR he said “We were very disappointed there to lose that game. We had lots of chances. Early in the first-half, we missed three frees and we had three or four wides in the second half when we were chasing the game to get back into there, unfortunately, that’s the way football goes”.
“We would be disappointed with our shooting, we would be disappointed with maybe some of our approach play, the lads worked very hard there all through the game, we can’t fault them for effort, but ultimately we were the authors of our own downfall”.
Turlough said “This is Division 3 Football, we knew every game was going to be tough, we are expecting hard battles, we are getting hard battles, and there is plenty of leaders in that dressing room inside there so we didn’t worry, our mental toughness will be fine”.
