Blessing Kingsley is enjoying life in Mississippi at the moment, telling KCLR’s Saturday Scoreline that it has been a “wonderful experience so far.”
Former Wexford Youths player Kingsley is currently attending the University of Mississippi in the U.S. where she is combining her academic studies with her soccer career. She says that it has been even better than she expected.
“It’s been great. I think I’ve adjusted pretty well and I’m scoring goals so I’m proving why I’m here,” said Kingsley.
The Carlow striker was shocked by the training regime when she arrived in America. She said that it was completely different to what she had become accustomed to while in Ireland.
Kingsley stated: “The training is tough on the body. You get up at 5.30 in the morning and train from 7-9, Monday to Friday. Then, you go to class at 9.30. It’s tough.”
While she has loved the experience of living across the Atlantic Ocean so far, Kingsley does miss some aspects of Ireland.
“I miss the food and the culture. It’s hard to have the same connection with my family and friends that I would have at home. But my fellow players are my friends because I get to see them every day which is great,” said Kingsley.
