Carlow’s Ed Byrne heading to South Africa for Leinster’s URC games with Sharks, Stormers

A 31-man Leinster squad, including Carlow's Ed Byrne, are bound for South Africa as the United Rugby Championships continue.

Leinster Rugby have named a 31-man squad bound for South Africa and two United Rugby Championship games over the coming fortnight.

Rhys Ruddock will captain Leinster for both games with Carlow’s Ed Byrne named among the travelling pack. Leinster will face the Cell-C Sharks in Durban on Saturday with DHL Stormers welcoming the Blues to Cape Town over the May bank holiday weekend.

There are just three rounds of the regular season to play before the quarter-finals, Leinster are currently in pole position with both South African sides pushing for a top-four spot.

Both the Sharks and Stormers currently have nine wins from 15 in the championship.
