Carlow’s Finn Lynch is hoping to qualify for the now 2021 Tokyo games next year.

The Bennekerry sailor has recently returned from representing Ireland in the European Championship in Poland after beginning training again in May. The Baltic sea was full with a total of 136 other boats where he came 13th, even though he was aiming to crack the top ten.

Lynch, who is no stranger to the Olympics after qualifying for the Rio Games in 2016 being the youngest man to compete in his event, spoke with KCLR’s Sue Nunn on “The Way it is” about his ambition to partake in next years event.

“I still have to qualify but we do not know what the qualification is going to be be. There will be a regatta in Springtime, either in France or Spain. I will just have to come top two out of the countries who have not qualified. It will be a big challenge, but I’m definitely good enough and raring to go!”
