Carrickshock Manager O’Donnell sees problem down the line in terms of fixtures

Carrickshock Senior Hurling manager Niall O’Donnell says the delayed fixture list to the Clubs after this weekend is going to cause serious problems down the line.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of this weekends game against St. Patricks Ballyragget, Niall says it’s a situation that could have been avoided.

“You are only pushing the problem down the line. Like, if Kilkenny go on to compete in an All-Ireland Final, there is just going to be game after game after game bundled in.

“That’s not even accounting for draws or anything like down the line so it’s an issue I think could have been avoided.

“We have to get on with it but like I think we won’t be the only club that will be saying after Saturday night that we won’t be getting together for a few weeks, it’s not right really either.”

Niall also says that Ballyragget will be full of confidence after their exploits in reaching the All-Ireland Club Final.

“We would be expecting a savage challenge to be quite honest with you. Going into it you are going up against the reigning County Intermediate Champions and not only that, the provincial Champions and from what I can gather a lot of people would say, they should be All-Ireland Champions.

“You are facing into a unit that are going to be full of confidence and sure hungry to tackle Senior grade. It’s been done in the recent past with Clara bouncing from Intermediate straight up to Senior so we are not underestimating the challenge at all,” he concluded.

The sides meet at 6.30pm this Saturday evening at St Johns Park.
