The GAA is to hold a Special Congress next Friday to allow an overhaul of this year’s Championships.
It comes after Central Council held a remote meeting yesterday to discuss the next steps during the coronavirus shutdown.
Special Congress will set up a conference call in seven days in order to give the GAA’s Management Committee the right to make decisions on the Championship format, which looks set to be altered.
The start of the Championship is set to be delayed as the government prepares to announce restrictions will be in place until the end of the month or beyond.
That could lead to a move away from the round-robin format in the provincial hurling championship and the Super 8’s in the football championship
