Brave 13’s fight card just got a few last minute changes.

The promotion has had a change of fights on both the main card and undercard heading into Saturday’s event at the SSE Arena, Belfast.

The middleweight bout between Tarek Suleiman and Chad Hanekom will not take place.

Suleiman posted to Instagram from Thailand explaining the situation.

“I wanna say with broken heart than I won’t be part of @bravemmaf 13 in Belfast 🇮🇪 due to an injury sustained in Tuesday my last hard wrestling session”.

“I’m determined to heal up and get back on track as soon as possible and a future fight is guaranteed once I’m healed up.”

The Syrian native suffered a slight tear in the trapezius muscle between his neck and shoulder, limiting  head movement and rotation on his left side. A decision was taken by Brave management to allow him heal up fully rather than risk further injury in the cage.

Changes for Al-Selwady

Also on the injured list is ‘The Pride of Palestine’, Abdul-Kareem AL-Selwady (9-1).

Again, he took to Instagram to explain his injury situation.

“Due to a broken bone injury sustained in training this week I will not be able to fight next week for the fight I have sacrificed everything for”, Al-Selwady posted on Saturday morning.

“After 3 days trying to hide the injury and train around it and find a way to fight with it, I took an X-Ray and it showed the bone was completely detached and broken . Everything happens for a reason and There is always something positive in a hard situation.”

“As much as I am angry that I will not be able to fight I know god has something better planned for me, only time will tell. Meanwhile I’m going to keep my head high , move forward and get better and stronger.”

With Al-Selwady out of action, Brave have called up Erick da Silva to keep the bout with Erik Carlsson on the card.

“I was summoned at the last minute to fight next week, June 9th at the @bravemmaf event. Since I never flee a fight, I accepted”, said Silva on Instagram Saturday evening, posting photos of his contract signing.

Da Silva last fought under the Brave banner in November at Brave 9, shipping a second round loss to Al-Selwady.

A finalised fight card will be published this week.

Brave 13: European Evolution, is headlined by Stephen Loman v Frans Mlambo, with Kilkenny’s Myles Price v Norman Parke the co-main event. Gates open at 4pm on Saturday 9 June and we’ll be there to catch all the action.
