Cloughduv Full-Back Brian Aherne says Dunnamaggin deserve immense credit for the way they grinded out victory in yesterday’s All-Ireland Junior Club Semi-Final.
KCLR Sport caught up with Brian after the final whistle and he says Dunnamaggin never panicked in extra-time, even with the game been so close.
“It is disheartening to have come this far and have fallen at this hurdle. We’d have loved to go to Croke Park and we wish Dunnamaggin the best of luck in the final and hope they go on and win it, It’s disheartening to lose by a point” said the Cork man.
“I suppose we gave them too much respect in the first-half, and six points at half-time was a big gap to try and mount back but we knew in ourselves that we had a big performance in it. We didn’t really play to our potential in the first-half and we just drove into it in the second half”.
Brian said “Credit to Dunnamaggin, they kind of weathered the storm in extra-time, it was point for point, their was no pulling away or anything and they just got over the line in the end”.
