All local league games involving teams in the Kilkenny & District League have been cancelled this weekend.
It was reported on Thursday morning that a number of resignations had taken place from the management committee of the local soccer league, leaving the day-to-day running of games in question.
A number of clubs in the city and county have since come forward to confirm they have been advised that all fixtures for this weekend – on the league front – have been postponed, with clubs involved in Leinster or SFAI fixtures set to continue games.
Evergreen’s game against St. James Gate FC, for example, in the opening round of the Leinster Junior Cup will proceed this Sunday at 1pm.Local games including Deen Celtic’s clash with Highview Athletic A and Newpark’s Divsion 3 meeting with Spa United on Sunday will have to be contested at a later date.
League sources confirmed to Scoreline.ie that resignations did take place but no further details were offered in relation to their impact on fixtures beyond this weekend.

Concerns have been raised in Kilkenny over this weekend’s fixture list for the Kilkenny and District League.
Scoreline understands an email was circulated to club officials late on Wednesday announcing the resignations of the management committee from the league.
A full round of games for school boys, school girls, and men’s junior games are due to be held from this Friday while a number of clubs are looking forward to the opening round of this year’s LFA O’Neill’s Junior Cup on Sunday.
