Kilkenny will face Wexford in Nowlan Park this weekend, provided all is looking good on Thursday.
The original fixture, booked for Sunday last, was called off late in the weekend due to the return of a number of positive Covid-19 tests in the Wexford camp.
Wexford had requested the fixture to be rescheduled with both counties having a free weekend this weekend.
While the CCCC had continued to work with the HSE across Monday and Tuesday, the game has now been refixed for the original venue.
As such, Kilkenny will face Wexford in round three of the national hurling league this Sunday at the slightly later time of 3pm.
You’ll be able to hear the game in full on air, online and via the KCLR app.
GAA Statement on Kilkenny v Wexford
“The GAA’s CCCC has confirmed that the AHL Division 1B game between Kilkenny and Wexford has been provisionally rescheduled to take place this Sunday, May 30th in UPMC Nowlan Park at 3pm, subject to the Wexford players currently isolating being deemed safe to play by the HSE later in the week (Thursday).” (via)
The GAA’s postponement policy on Allianz League games is as follows:
Where a County is unable to fulfil a fixture due to issues related to Covid, the game will be awarded to the opposing team (walkover), but without any further penalty being imposed. The exceptions to this are:
– Where there is a clear 13 days between the original fixture and the next scheduled round of the competition or
– Any game where relegation would be a direct consequence of the walkover.
