Red Mills Day at Gowran Park this Saturday features two big races, the Grade 2 Red Mills Chase and the Grade 3  Red Mills Trial Hurdle.

Admission is free, courtesy of Red Mills, and jockey Danny Mullins says there will be plenty of high-class horses in action on the day and he spoke about the Red Mills Trial Hurdle;

“It is a race over the intermediate distance, so they will all get a chance. You have Champion Hurdles winners, horses that will be looking at the Stairs Hurdle.”

“The Red Mills Chase has been very informative, with plenty of good horses going on for the Gold Cup and possibly prep for Cheltenham.”

“You are going to go to Gowran and see a lot of good horses, and Willie is no stranger to producing some of his Grade 1 horses there, and it should be a great day out again.”

Speaking of Willie Mullins, he is looking forward to the Grade 2 Red Mills Chase at Gowran Park this Saturday.

While we spoke about the season-ending injury to Allaho yesterday, ruling him out of a potential hat-trick of victories at Cheltenham for the Ryanair Chase.

There’s a positive focus on this weekend though with Mullins telling Dave Keena that both Haut En Couleurs and Janidil have a real opportunity to step in as Allaho’s Cheltenham replacement.

“Both of those might take their chance, it will be a good trial for Cheltenham. They’re both sort of Ryanair horses, so it’ll be interesting to see how they go in the Red Mills Chase.”

“It’s a great opportunity for them and will answer a lot of questions for us.”
