The Carlow and Kilkenny J2 teams have a big derby game to look forward to on Sunday next (April 24).
The sides are into the semi-finals of the competition, Kilkenny beating Athy 10-8 in the last round and Carlow beating Gorey 32-27 in their game.
Carlow would have considered Gorey one of their bogey teams, even speaking after the game, veteran Tom Bolger said that in over 25 years of knock-out rugby, this was the first time that his Carlow team were victorious over Gorey.
The game also saw Carlow club captain Ross Elmes who injured his Achilles tendon return to action.
Kilkenny will be buoyed by the J1’s winning the Provincial Towns Cup final last weekend against Ashbourne, however, Carlow’s J2s have had a very strong season to date and will be well up for this one.
