Wexford look to complete a Treble over Kilkenny this coming Wednesday in the Bord Gais Energy Leinster Under-20 Hurling final.
Wexford have come in for some criticism for their application of the sweeper system, with some detractors calling it negative, a point which Davy Fitzgerald vehemently denies.
Hurling legend and Kilkenny u20 manager DJ CArey has lept to the defence of the tactic, as he spoke about the evolution of hurling and the need to adapt with the times.
Speaking with KCLR ahead of the crunch clash he said “There’s nothing unattractive about a sweeper system when used right because you work the ball out fast, you work it to your players, you work it to the guys that can win the ball and you try and score at the other end, and that is pretty attractive”.
“The game moves on, it gets faster and stronger, and you have to move with the times”.
KCLR will be providing live coverage of the game Wednesday with throw in at 7.30pm
