The dust settles on the 2021 Carlow Senior Hurling final and Mount Leinster Rangers celebrations may be subsiding somewhat. However we havent forgot about the great gave of hurling that was on hand last weekend.
Brothers Chris and Jon Nolan put in a staggering display to claim MLR’s 10th senior hurling title, grabbing 13 points between them in Netwatch Cullen Park on the day. While Man of the Match Chris jested he could of scored more had Jon passed him the ball a bit more he was quick to point out the game itself, despite the scoreline was a hard fought battle between the two rivals
“It was a brilliant performance, we were building all year to it. In the group games we probably didnt get going, 30 or 40 minute performances. In fairness to St. Mullins they are an unbelievable team, they never give up, they fierce pride in the jersey and keep fighting to the very end. It was a very very tough game of hurling”

Jon grabbed five, including a point while on his knees, and is just a year and a half younger then his brother Chris and no doubt put a smile across the face of his father Sean with his own performance. Speaking to Scoreline the Carlow player has been dreaming of this moment for a long time
“When you are fifteen years of age you dreams of days like that. I’m very happy thank god, it was a great team performance from Rangers and hopefully more to come”
“This is what we have been building on all year. We have been working hard. The tackling from the start, everything was ferocious from St. Mullins, they are a tough team. d. It was just a tough game

There is potential now for two more Nolan’s to come up thru the ranks in the next few years, so it may be a case of having four Nolan’s lining out for Mount Leinster Rangers and Carlow within the next decade. However instead of looking too far into the future Chris now has his sights set on college success with IT Carlow telling Scoreline
“I have another year left, so ill have a crack at that Fitzgibbon this year!”
