St. Martins Senior Camogie manager JJ Doyle says he is unsure what to expect from Thomastown in Sunday’s Leinster Final.
Speaking exclusively to KCLR, JJ says that Thomastown are an unknown quantity having never played them before.
“Obviously, it’s our first experience of playing outside the County in a competitive game.
Thomastown are the reigning Leinster Champions and they are certainly on a winning streak and a winning run so we are not really sure what to expect, we are going up on Sunday and we are just looking to perform to the best of our ability and see where that is going to take us.
“We don’t a huge amount about Thomastown because we haven’t come across them in practice matches or anything like that so we obviously know they have a number of the Farrell girls there that are involved with the County Team who are absolutely phenomenal hurlers. It’s going to be a huge challenge for us on Sunday,” he said.
Doyle says they are not making an issue of both the Camogie and Senior hurlers been involved in Leinster Championship action at the same time.
JJ says it’s a very good headache to have both teams still playing November.
“Most clubs at this stage of the year, they are shutdown, their pitches are close and there is no one doing anything and their will be a certain amount of people that will go to Carlow and there will be a certain amount of people that will go to Cuala, but genuinely like we haven’t focused on it.
We could have made an issue of it, but there is no point. I mean the Camogie has it set that it’s a double header between the Intermediates and the Senior and it’s a big day for Leinster Camogie. For us to throw a spanner into the works, that wouldn’t have been fair either so listen it is what is.
“It’s unfortunate, one had been Sunday and one Saturday, it probably would have been better but it is what it is as we say and we just get on with it now,” he concluded.
