Former Carlow Senior Footballer Willie Quinlan says that Dublin’s strength in depth makes it very difficult for Mayo ahead of the All-Ireland Final.
However, speaking to KCLR, Willie says last years two games in the All-Ireland prove that Mayo can cause an upset.
“The likes of Bernard Brogan didn’t get anytime (in the Semi-Final against Tyrone), Michael Daragh McCauley got no time, (Diarmuid) Connolly ended up getting two or three minutes”
“They are able to bring on players, they brought on (Paul) Flynn, he scored three points”
“A couple of players that would be on any other County Team in the country so from that point of view Dublin would have to be favorites but you must remember, they drew with Mayo last year, ended up beating them in the replay by a point”
“Mayo not a huge amount away from Dublin, maybe the games, they have played 10 games this year”
“To win an All-Ireland playing 10 games would be something else, you would like to see Mayo coming out on top but it I think it will be very difficult playing that Dublin Team”
