For the third year running, Éire Óg are Division 1A minor football champions.

Indeed, the current crop of young players coming through the ranks at the Carlow club are getting well used to winning having won U13, U14 (Féile), U15 and U17 titles in recent times – this year making it a hat-trick of Division 1 wins.

Under the lights in Netwatch Cullen Park on Monday night and with a vocal crowd roaring both sides on, it would be Éire Óg going into the break two points clear of St. Martins in this year’s Cental U17 Division 1A final.

Ten minutes after the restart there was daylight starting to appear, Éire Óg adding 1-04 without reply, taking a 2-10 to 1-05 lead into the final quarter. The champions-elect would put the icing on the cake with a third goal before full time to leave Netwatch Cullen Park 3-10 to 2-07 winners.

Elsewere, Asca claimed bragging rights in the Division 1B final with a 0-07 to 0-06 win over Rathvilly at the Netwatch Training Centre in Fenagh with Clonmore seeing off Bagenalstown to the tune of 4-12 to 0-02. The first game of the night at the county grounds went to St. Patrick’s with a 1-12 to 0-03 win over Tinryland.
