KCLR Electric Player of the Week

The KCLR Electric Player of the Week, recognising local sporting legends who’ve buried the ball to the back of the net, ran for gold or simply excelled in their field. Every week, one local person will win the coveted crown and we’ll be looking for your nominations June through August on Scoreline each weekend.

What’s more, when we announce the Electric Player of the Week, you’ll have a chance to win €100 cash if you keep an eye on the KCLR and Scoreline socials.

Week 5: July 9, 2023

This week’s KCLR Electric Player of the Week is Glenmore clubman and Kilkenny senior hurling goalkeeper Eoin Murphy who put in another All-Star performance in Kilkenny’s All-Ireland senior hurling championship semi-final win over Clare on Sunday. You can listen back to that game in full here.

Week 4: July 2, 2023

Two-goal hero Michael Malone of Mullinavat is this week’s KCLR Electric Player of the Week, his personal haul against Thomastown on Friday night helping the club on to a sixth senior football championship title in Kilkenny in seven seasons

Week 3: June 25, 2023

This week’s KCLR Electric Player of the Week is Windgap and Kilkenny senior camogie standout Denise Gaule, whose eye for goal and free-taking saw her claim 1-9 of Kilkenny’s 3-14 tally against Dublin in round 2 of the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland senior camogie championship over the weekend. Week 2: June 18, 2023

This week’s KCLR Electric Player of the Week is St. Mullin’s and Carlow senior hurler Marty Kavanagh. The county’s all-time leading scorer hit 0-12 during Sunday’s defeat to Dublin in the All-Ireland senior hurling championship preliminary quarter-final stages. You can listen back to that game here.

Week 1: June 11, 2023

This week’s Electric Player of the Week is Tullogher Rosbercon club man and Kilkenny senior hurler Walter Walsh. Coming off the bench in the first half of Sunday’s Leinster senior hurling final against Galway, Walsh replaced Mossy Keoghan and went on to score 1-2 on the way to a fourth provincial title in a row.
