Erins Own Castlecomer Senior Hurling Manager Liam Dowling says their performance in last Saturday evening’s First Round Championship clash against Bennettsbridge would be nowhere near good enough to defeat Dicksboro in the Senior Quarter-Final despite defeating last years County Finalists by 12 points.
Speaking to KCLR, Liam says that Bennettsbridge having a player sent-off flattered the final margin.
He said “I wouldn’t think so. I still think the performance on Saturday evening even though it turned out ok for us”.
“I don’t think that performance will actually be good enough to even to win a Quarter-Final, I think we still have a bit to go on that and that is something that we will working on over the next couple of weeks to try and improve even from where we were on Saturday and at the end of the day, in fairness to Bennettsbridge they lost a man in the match and it was very difficult for them in the last 15 minutes and it probably played into our hands”.
