A “significant number” of spectators are expected to attend this summer’s Open Championship.
R&A chief executive Martin Slumbers confirmed the news today.
Last year’s event was cancelled due to the pandemic.
From May 17th, 10,000 spectators are allowed to attend outdoor sporting events in England.
When the Open last visited Royal St. George’s, 180,000 fans were in attendance.
The Open begins on July 15th at Royal St George’s and Offaly’s Shane Lowry will be defending the Claret Jug he won in 2019.
