Carlow IT Hurling manager DJ Carey says that way too much has been crammed into the fixture schedule so early in the year.
Speaking to KCLR as Carlow IT look to consolidate top spot in their Fitzgibbon Cup group with victory away to Trinity on Sunday, DJ says the 3rd level competition has been devalued by Inter-County managers and by the GAA….
“The way it’s gone, the way this whole fixture thing has gone now. They are cramping so much into the early part of the season”
“This is looking like then the Fitzgibbon Cup, I think it has been demeaned, it’s a brilliant competition, absolutely brilliant players, the best probably Under-21s and slightly over it that are in the country are playing in this competition and yet now, they are been pulled for training sessions the day before matches, and maybe even the evening of matches and certainly the day of matches and I think that is too much at this time of the year”
