Willie Quinlan says the absence of Team Manager Turlough O’Brien along with established players was a massive factor in their disappointing Championship this Summer.

Speaking to KCLR after yesterday’s heavy defeat to Longford, Willie says it was no surprised they struggled in the Championship.

He said “They don’t get a second without him (Turlough) been in their year”.

“He’s up and down, he is in onto the field, he is talking to players and that has to be a huge disappointment for the players and then to lose Brendan Murphy, Sean Murphy got a red card and Paul Broderick has picked up a couple of injuries over the last couple of years, he is their talisman, a great free-taker, he is capable of seven or eight points in any game he plays, when the likes of Carlow lose those kind of players, very hard to replace”.
