Former Carlow Senior Football goalkeeper John Kearns says their missed chances rather the defensive set-up was the main reason for defeat in their last two matches.
Carlow kicked ten wides in their defeats both to Longford and Offaly and speaking to KCLR ahead of tonight’s (Saturday) clash at home to Louth, John says they will work hard to try and rectify the situation ahead of tonight’s clash.
He said “I am sure they will be working on that in training and the end of the day, forwards are forwards really and they are there really to try and get the scores and why I know that they do play defensive and get back and defend for a lot of the game as well, but at the end of the day when these guys are playing for their clubs, they are just scoring left, right and centre”.
“They know themselves, they probably should be doing better, I’m sure they are working hard as well to try and cut down on their wides in every game. They don’t go out to shoot wides on purpose by any means so I mean they are keen to make amends in every game so hopefully it will happen Saturday night” he said.
