Former Carlow Senior Football goalkeeper John Kearns says that Kildare are there for the taking on Sunday and feels that Carlow can cause an upset.

Speaking to KCLR ahead of Sunday’s clash, John says the management team will have the belief that they can pull off a big result.

“Confidence really is a huge part of it because you go into games believing in your yourself.

I’m sure between Turlough now and Steven Poacher, and Tommy Wogan and and Benji and the boys that they will have the boys heads well sorted for this and they will be telling the lads, listen lads, this game is there for the taking and it is winnable.

“Obviously Kildare are hot favourites like, but I wouldn’t call it a huge shock, I would be hoping that Carlow give them a good game and I wouldn’t be surprised if that game is close.

“If Carlow are winning by a couple of points coming towards the end I would expect them to hold on,” he said.
