Former Kilkenny Senior Hurler John Power says it’s time for the younger players to step up to the plate and provide more leadership and help the experienced players.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of today’s (Sunday) League clash in Wexford, John says the older players are finding it difficult to raise the bar on a constant basis.
He said “That’s what Brian Cody was stating when he was looking for leaders. “We know what Richie Hogan can do, but he is after doing it for a long time now and it is hard to saddle him up again and to lead the thing on and the same with TJ”.
John said “Those players need help now from the younger players and I suppose that’s what Brian is trying to unearth, younger players with a bit of character and a bit of leadership and they are badly needed and they will help our older players, but our older players they are not going to pull us through on our own either”.
