Kilkenny’s Colm Whelan has a chance to play in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division next year if UCD defeat Bray Wanderers in the first division play off final next week.
The match has now been confirmed for Friday, November 19th at Dalymount Park, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
UCD had a convincing first-leg victory over Treaty United which was enough to see them through despite losing the return leg. Whelan scored two of four goals that helped Andrew Myler’s squad progress to the final.
UCD extend their lead with under ten minutes remaining now, great finish as usual by Colm Whelan! 🌟

Whelan is having a breakout season which has seen him score 20 goals in 26 appearances for his side, thus earning him a call up to Jim Crawfords Irish U-21 Squad. Rumours have since been swirling about the possibility of the former Thomastown man joining Damian Duff’s Shelbourne.
The winner of the play-off final will guarantee their spot in the promotion/relegation play-off final against the team that finishes ninth in the Premier Division.
The First Division play-off final will be live on LOITV for First Division season pass holders or available on a pay-per-view basis.
