Freebooters AFC are one of three clubs in Kilkenny and Carlow that will be competing in Leinster soccer action over the next few weeks, with the club competing at Junior, under 19’s and under 18’s level.
With many of the underage players also lining out for their respective hurling clubs, Manager Seanie Doyle says that the gaa clubs have been very accommodating to the needs of the soccer team:
He said “So we do have a crossover but at the moment its not (a problem), all of the clubs around are very good if you approach them in the right manner, they’re very good to us because we have some really high profile players playing with us that are hurlers as well”.
“But if you approach them in the right way and explain to them (why you need them), generally this year and last year we didn’t have much of a problem”.
