Kilkenny Athletics PRO Perri Williams says that Sophie Becker will progress even further in the Senior ranks.
The St. Josephs Glenmore Athlete last week qualified for the upcoming European Indoors in Glasgow in the 400 metres, and speaking to KCLR, Perri says that Sophie is continuing a strong International tradition of Kilkenny Athletes in the 400 metres.
She said “She’s still Under-23 which means their is going to be great progression for her over the next few years into the Senior ranks, and Kilkenny are very lucky at the moment”.
“We have had kind of a sort of a recent history of really good 400 metre athletes. We have had of course Joanne Cuddihy from KCH who obviously reached the Olympic Games and World Championships and of late, Ciara Deely who is the youngest of the three and then we have Cliodhna Manning who was unfortunate to be injured for the Europeans last year and Sophie Becker as well so Kilkenny is in a good place with 400’s and we still have Athletes coming up through the ranks as well” said Perri.
