Yes, sweet mother of divine yes! Finally light has been shun on when we can hit the gyms and line out  in our retro jerseys again.

The government has given the green light for adult team sports training to resume from May the 10th. It wont be a free for all though as those sessions will be non-contact and in pods of up to 15. So running it is then, the joys! Still it can lead to more dynamic training sessions then those five kilometre runs on the roads you have been doing. (Pssssttttt it’s ok if you haven’t been)

Matches meanwhile will take a bit longer at non-elite level, as they will only be permitted again from the 7th of June. Supporters will not be allowed show up at games either. Might not mean much of a change for my local team Castlewarren in fairness, think the only supporters we have are the people that pass the pitch when leaving the Watershed gym.

Speaking of gyms, on the same date in June access to gyms and swimming pools will be allowed. This is much welcomed news for those of us who like to work up a sweat in some of the countries best facilities.

People like to point towards the correlation to mental health and exercise, but it’s not just fitness that helps ease your woes. The social aspect of being part of a team or having a gym buddy has never been more evident in a year where people have never felt more alone. I have all ready covered what makes Sunday League football so special to me and those sentiments are shared throughout our diverse sporting communities.

So why not pop down to an outdoor pub after you finish your match or gym session on June 7th and have a pint, you deserve it.
