There was success for Gowran Horse Trainer Jimmy Barcoe in Downpatrick when his 40/1 shot Kingston Retreat landed the Irish National Hunt Stallion Owners Maiden Hurdle.
Despite going off the outsider of six runners at fancy odds, Kingston Retreat, with Cathal Landers on board, ran out an impressive winner by just 4 lengths ahead of the Gavin Cromwell Trained Midnight It Is. The Henry De Bromhead Trained Gigginstown Owned Fissa finished third.
It was the second win for the Gowran native in 6 days after Influential Lady was an impressive winner of a Handicap Hurdle in Gowran Park last Saturday.
Jimmy also had a runner in the another race on the day as Courting Vickie finished 6th in the MB McGrady Chartered Accountants Handicap Hurdle.
Courting Vickie was making a quick reappearance having finished 6th in Tipperary(Limerick Junction) last Sunday.
