The summer evenings are in and so too is evening race at Kilkenny’s Gowran Park.
An eight-race card awaits horse racing fans in Kilkenny this evening including two listed races in the Irish Stallion Farms EBG Vintage Tipple Stakes and Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes.
“We’ve an evening of high-class listed action at Gowran Park today where the first is going to post at 4.50pm”, says track manager Eddie Scally in speaking to Scoreline earlier today (Wednesday).
“We have two listed races to look forward today, the 5.50pm being the Vintage Tipple Stakes and local trainer Joseph O’Brien looks to have a real horse in that race in Mighty Blue, so we’ll see how that goes.”
“Also in the 6.20pm, the Victor McCalmont Memorial Stakes, again a locally owned horse in the Ballylinch Stud will be running in their colours. That’s Sultanov Swing, a winner here at Gowran Park last time out, trained by Paddy Twomey, ridden by Billy Lee, looks to be a very interesting running in the listed stakes.
“But it’s a high-class card at Gowran Park today and we’ll have our courtesy busses going from the castle at 3.50pm today. The going is currently yielding soft in place.”
