Gowran Park’s re-scheduled flat meeting will go ahead this Thursday with the first race off at 1.40pm.
General Manager Eddie Scally says they had to cancel Saturday’s flat meeting due to health and safety reasons.
Eddie outlined why Saturday’s meeting was cancelled.
He said “We had a lot of thunder and lighting there and we had to make the call then , I suppose we delayed Racing first in the hope that the lightning would move along, but I suppose in this type of scenario we can’t take any chances at all, the track is fine, it’s perfectly ready to Race and everything is set-up, the rain wouldn’t have been a big issue”.
“It’s just with the lightning, I mean the starting stalls are all electrified and stuff so you just couldn’t take a gamble on anything like that it would have been too dangerous”.
