Kilkenny and Shamrocks star Joey Holden has been keeping himself busy ahead of a return to hurling.

Last week Kilkenny City Vocational School completed their first virtual sports week. The school where Joey, or Mr. Holden to some, is involved in a teaching capacity set different challenges during the week to encourage their students to get out and be active. Judging by the amount of folks posting videos it was a roaring success

Speaking with KCLR Sunday Scoreline about the event Joey also touched upon the big news involving club and county teammate Michael Fennelly’s retirement.

“We had a feeling it might be coming, he made a little speech after the club All Ireland, and sure by the end of the speech he nearly had himself coming back. He has had lots of injuries but he has been an unbelievable servant for club and county. He has alot on his plate with the young lad and Offaly job”

Fennelly’s retirement isn’t the only change to the Ballyhale Shamrocks 2020 All Ireland Club winning side as Waterford native James O’Connor is set to sit in King Henry’s Throne. Joey admitted they are all eager to get back to training for the former Fr.O’Neils man

“We are all mad to get down there to see how big the changes are. We havent had any meeting with him (James O’Connor) but its exciting times to see what changes he brings and approach he brings”
