John “Shark” Hanlon says an Irish winner at the Cheltenham Festival is similar to Kilkenny winning the Senior All-Ireland Final.
The Paulstown native was speaking to KCLR at last week’s Cheltenham Festival Preview Show in the Red Mills Store in Cillin Hill, the Shark says that the Cheltenham Festival is a wonderful occasion to savour.
He said “The Irish people, they will go over there in teams and when you have an Irish winner over there, it’s like going to Croke Park after Kilkenny winning an All-Ireland, the cheers and the shouts and the roars, it’s brilliant, it’s gas, the Irish lads, people will go over there and even they mightn’t fancy an English horse to win or they might fancy an English horse to win, but they will always back an Irish horse”.
