The Secretary of the Kilkenny/Carlow/Laois County Board Mark Sheridan says there is a very high standard of fighters in the County Board with the potential to progress further.
The Elite National Championships takes places in Dublin tomorrow evening.
Mark told KCLR who will be fighting tomorrow evening, he said “We have five from the County Board. Two from Paulstown, Keith and Shane Flavin, we have Wayne Kelly from Portlaoise, Christian Chekeso from Portlaoise and Michael Nevin from Portlaoise”.
“These boys could go on and win the Elites and possibly go on and represent Ireland in the Olympics then as well so all in all in the County Board, Boxing is very very strong and it’s getting stronger” he said.
He added “As you see in our club alone, we have a lot of youth members and you can see the talent coming up”.
