The Taoiseach said last night that the All-Ireland Championships will give people something to look forward to.

As the country prepares to enter level-5 restrictions from midnight on Wednesday night, elite sport will continue.

A joint statement from the Golfing Union of Ireland and Irish Ladies Golf Union is expected today on the status of courses nationwide from midnight tomorrow night.

Gyms and swimming pools will close, while League of Ireland soccer and Pro 14 and Six Nations rugby will proceed behind closed doors.

On the government website, it posted the following:
No training or matches should take place, with the exception of professional, elite sports and inter-county Gaelic games, horse-racing and greyhound racing, which are being permitted to continue behind closed doors.
