In a recent development, the iconic Páirc uí Chaoimh in Cork is set to undergo a significant transformation as it takes on a new name – SuperValu Páirc uí Chaoimh.

This announcement follows a statement released earlier today, confirming a 10-year partnership that designates the supermarket retailer as the official name sponsor for the stadium.

The official deal is scheduled to be finalized at a special meeting of delegates to the Cork County Board, which is slated for tomorrow.

As part of this partnership, it is estimated that the agreement could bring in an impressive annual sum of up to €300,000 to support Cork GAA initiatives. The financial injection is expected to contribute significantly to the development and maintenance of the sporting venue, further bolstering its status as a cornerstone of Cork’s sporting heritage.

Situated in Ballintemple, Páirc uí Chaoimh, affectionately known as The Park, occupies a special place in the hearts of fans. The stadium, built near the original Cork Athletic Grounds, first opened its doors in 1976. In 2017, Páirc uí Chaoimh underwent an extensive two-year redevelopment, enhancing its facilities and modernizing the overall infrastructure.

The decision to include SuperValu in the stadium’s name goes to show the increasing prevalence of corporate sponsorships in the sports industry.
