Carlow man John Amond has won Badminton Ireland coach of the year for 2019.
The awards ceremony too place on Saturday night, he had been runner up last year 2018.
John coaches the Irish U15 team also and during the week he coaches is schools and clubs within a 60 mile radius of Carlow,
He has won numerous competitions in single, doubles & mixed doubles and this year formed the Carlow Cavaliers who compete in the South West Leinster Badminton League in all grades.
Overall he is involved in coaching upwards of 500 people.
