Last weekend in Kilkenny, soccer fans were treated to some clashes in the quarter-finals of the KCLR McCalmont Cup.

Division 1 champs Evergreen B pulled off a win against Premier League favorites Deen Celtic A, securing a narrow 2-1 victory in a fiercely contested match. Meanwhile, defending champions Freebooters A had a 2-0 win over Callan United. Bridge United made a statement by avenging their recent league defeat against Evergreen A, sealing a solid 3-1 victory and booking their spot in the next round.

But perhaps the biggest upset came from the weekend before as Division 2 team Freebooters B, stunned everyone with a remarkable 4-1 victory over Premier Division giants Thomastown United. This Weekend Freebooters B continued their winning streak by clinching the LFA O’Neills Junior Plate Final with a convincing 2-0 win over East End United, further cementing their status as the team to watch.

Now, all eyes are on the semi-finals as Freebooters A gear up to face Evergreen B, while Freebooters B takes on Bridge United.

With the semi-finals scheduled for the 12th of May, anticipation is building as teams battle it out for a chance to secure their spot in the final.
