With a chance to extend it still, Mount Leinster Rangers’ Richie Coady has equalled the record number of appearances for Carlow’s senior hurlers.

His outing against Offaly in the final round of the Joe McDonagh Cup on Saturday brought to 164 the number of times he’s lined out in the red, yellow and green for the county.

The record holder until Saturday? His brother Eddie, making Saturday a rather proud day for the Coady family and Mount Leinster Rangers.

Congratulations to Richie Coady who today equalled his bother Edward’s record number of 164 appearances for Carlow’s senior hurlers. What incredible service both men have given to their county. Well done lads.

A proud day for the Coady family & Mt Leinster Rangers club.

While the Joe McDonagh Cup journey for Carlow’s senior hurlers is over, despite victory over Offaly at the weekend, the younger Coady has a chance to make that record his own should he stay in the Carlow colours next season.
