Dublin 0-11
Kilkenny 0-17
Kilkenny got their first points on the board in this year’s league as they came out of Parnell Park with a six-point win over Dublin on Saturday afternoon.
Early points from Denise Gaule saw Kilkenny take a lead that they would never relinquish as they were supplemented by fine scores from play by the impressive Laura Murphy (3) and Piltown’s Katie Power.
Dublin free-taker Aisling Maher kept the home side in the game at the half-time break with the All-Ireland champions taking a 0-04 to 0-09 lead into the interval.
The second half continued in the same fashion as the preceding 30 minutes with Power, Gaule and Asha McHardy all picking off points for the visitors while Maher maintained the charge for her side.
Although they reduced the deficit to three points with less than 10 minutes remaining, it wasn’t to be for Dublin as Kilkenny’s superior firepower saw them over the line with Gaule and Power helping them to a much-needed victory following two consecutive defeats to Clare and Galway.
