Kilkenny and Cork are set for their second major camogie showdown in just eight months with the Littlewoods Ireland Camogie League drawing to a close this weekend.
Kilkenny will contest the Division 1 final against Cork, having beaten them in September to secure the O’Duffy Cup for the first time in 22 years. While Kilkenny will no doubt love to do the double over Cork, there’s nothing quite like a team out for redemption on the big stage to lay down a marker for the summer season.
Cork went unbeated through the group stages, while Kilkenny were three for five, edging Tipperary into second place. When the sides met at the MW Hire Training Centre on April 1, it was Cork who pipped Kilkenny 0-12 to 0-11.
Cork were convincing winners over Limerick in their semi-final (3-15 to 0-12) on April 9 while Kilkenny secured their spot in the league final with a 1-14 to 0-9 point win against Galway at Semple Stadium.
The sides meet again at The Gaelic Grounds in Limerick this Sunday for a 1.30pm throw-in. The game is a curtain-raiser to the Allianz National Hurling League Division 1 final between Tipperary and Galway. Match day tickets are €30, or €25 if bought in advance from usual outlets. Student tickets are €25 while juvenile tickets are discounted to €5.
