Kilkenny greyhound trainer Murt Leahy lands SIS Juvenile Derby with Droopys Gloss at Shelbourne Park

John Coleman with Droopys Glosswinner of the 2021 SIS Juvenile Derby at Shelbourne Park

Kilkenny-based trainer Murt Leahy enjoyed a night to remember in Shelbourne Park on Saturday night as Droopys Gloss delivered a stunning performance in the final of the SIS Juvenile Derby.

Droopys Gloss had already confirmed her standing as one of the best in the land ahead of the decider, but this latest display further cemented her standing.

Not only did she beat some of the sharpest early pacers into the bend, but she drove clear to emerge a brilliant winner, landing the €20,000 winner’s purse for Murt Leahy and owner John Coleman.

Showing wonderful pace, Droopys Gloss made every yard of the running to win the famous event in style. Showing real enthusiasm and brilliance, Droopys Gloss powered clear on the run-in to emerge a brilliant five and a half-length winner in a fast 28.49 (rated .20 slow).

Serene Ace was second with Off The Pitch just three parts of a length away in third.

It was a top-class display from a bitch with a massive future. John Coleman and Murt Leahy would have floated home from Shelbourne Park and with reason.

They have a star with the potential to challenge for all the major honours in the coming year and we wish them and Droopys Gloss the very best of luck in the future.
