Kilkenny Hurling star Colin Fennelly has landed himself in hot water with the Defence Forces.
The former soldier said Defence Force members had “nothing to do” and that his time there was marked by “absolute boredom” and army life is very dull.
The sports star said there’s “no job satisfaction” in an army career and the force needs a complete revamp.
He thinks the army should do more to help local communities, as he claims soldiers currently “have nothing to do”.
Speaking to Off the Ball.com, Colin said being allowed to dedicate time to Hurling was the only advantage of army life.
The Defence Forces says it’s surprised and disappointed by the negative comments.
In a statement, the Defence Forces highlighted the dedication and sacrifice of its members – and their role assisting government agencies and carrying out peacekeeping missions.
