Heartbreak for the ladies’ rugby team who just miss out on division four triumph
The story of the championship is the number of walkovers that were given in the competition. With Kilkenny going into the last game of the season ahead of their rivals Barnhall it would take Kilkenny to win the game against Garda with a try bonus point to win the division.
Barnhall on the other hand was due to play Tullamore who had given four walkovers in the championship before the game looked likely to make it number five. If that was the case and Kilkenny failed to get a try bonus point win then they would lose out on that victory.
Kilkenny did beat Garda by two points but unfortunately, Tullamore gave Barnhall the victory so they were awarded maximum points which meant that Kilkenny lost out on winning the division on score difference.
The team could still be promoted to division 3 as they have a play-off game with greystones on 19th March Vevue & Time TBC
